Vitamin C is a potent reducing agent and scavenger of free radicals and an ally during the aging process: it is essential for the collagen biosynthesis and has an important anti pigmentary effect, interacting with copper ions at tyrosinase-active sites and inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme. [5]
